Changes to Dinner Plain–Hotham bus shuttle

SEVERAL changes to bus services running between Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain are being introduced for the 2022 winter season.

A 'smart' card ticket system for the shuttle service is replacing all other forms of payment, and two new bus shelters have been constructed as part of an aim to improve the important service between the alpine villages.

The most important change to the service for users is the introduction of the cashless 'smart' card.

Cash will no longer be accepted by the drivers of the Dinner Plain–Hotham shuttles.

A 'smart' card will be the only valid form of ticketing for the shuttle and must be pre–purchased prior to travel.

Before getting on the bus, the cards must also be 'activated' via a website.

'Smart' cards are available for purchase from a number of 'mountain agents'.

In Dinner Plain from Hoys Ski Shop, Dinner Plain Accommodation, Club Wyndam, The Stables & Alpine Life Store.

At Mt Hotham purchase your 'smart' card from both Hoys Ski Shop outlets.

Cards can also be obtained from Alpine Spirit Coaches in Myrtleford or the Hoys Harrietville Ski Shop.

Rates for one–way and return fares this season are: adult $12/$18 and children (17yr & under) $6/ $9.

Discounted rates are available for family groups.

For anyone doing multiple trips daily and through the season, the best Smart Pass option may be a DP–Hotham season bus pass.

Rates are adults $360, children $300 (17 years & under), and allow unlimited travel on every day of the season.

For anyone arriving late at Dinner Plain but keen to catch an early bus up to Hotham for morning powder turns, the first mountain agent to open every morning will be Club Wyndam at 7am.

The Village Bus at Mt Hotham is still a free service and does not require a 'smart' card.
