Strong demand for properties at resorts

THE alpine property markets of Dinner Plain, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek are tracking well and are set to exceed all known records, according to John Castran of Castran Real Estate.

"Dinner Plain and Hotham continue to complement each other with Dinner Plain soaking up most of the known growth in beds over the past 10 years," he said.

"Importantly the Mount Hotham resort management board is presently in the process of conducting an Expressions of Interest/registration campaign to seek suitable qualified alpine developers to develop the entire Corral Car park at Hotham.

"It will be very interesting to track the outcome of this process, particularly given this site is the most centrally located within the Hotham village."

Mr Castran said there continues to be a shortage of listings at the resorts with demand far outstripping supply.

"One of the more interesting developments is Northern Views Chalets which are located on Hot Plate Drive at Mt Hotham," he said.

"You can buy a block of land with plans attached and a car park for $700,000 or alternatively purchase a completed 3 x bedroom chalet with 2 x bathroom and a car park for $2,000,000 – $2.300,000."
