Serving up the entertainment

EVERY ski resort has an iconic event that all the visitors and locals love to get involved in – full of friendly competition, crazy fun or just sheer wonderment.

Falls Creek is lucky to have multiple events that fit this bill and they're all set to happen in the coming weeks.

From alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross–country races for the competitive types, to fun and frivolity for those who prefer the lighter side, there is something for everyone.

This season Falls Creek has been enlightened by the Festival of Light installations around the village that leads visitors and locals alike on a journey to every pocket of the alpine resort.

Whether it's shining lasers like stars in the night skies or the movement of lights and colour creating motions and dream–like worlds for you to experience, it will be a pathway of fun through the village all season long.

But don't let it just be your visual senses that are enthralled, boogie along to the accompanying Spotify song list the Fall Creek Resort Management has made just for the light trail, which can be found on the Festival of Lights information page on the resort's website.

From lights to bright colours, partying and celebrating everything that's fabulously frosty is what makes Gay Ski Week Australia exceptionally fun.

A bunch of ski instructors will keep everyone active and Queer entertainers like Frock Hudson and DJ Cliterally, will keep the party going at all times for the hundreds of participants, at two amazing entertainment hubs and multiple event venues.

With over 50 individual events organised throughout the week, September 2 to 11 is sure to be outrageously fun celebrating the national pride event for the entire LGBT+ family.

For those with lungs like whales and glutes of titanium, the 30th Kangaroo Hoppet will see its competitors smashing it out on our world–class cross–country trails on August 27.

If you're keen to compete but not sure 42km of the most aerobically challenging sport in the world is quite your cup of tea, then perhaps the Birkebeiner of 21km or even the Joey which is only 7km is more aligned to your personal goals.

Play to your strengths, short and fast is not a bad thing.

As we come into September–spring–skiing the weather starts becoming even more beautiful for scenic flights with Alpine Helicopters to check out Mt Bogong and the Bogong High Plains from a different perspective – up really, really high.

It's a thrilling feeling to see Falls Creek Village and the surrounding scenery out the window of a heli.

Spot your favourite run, spot the perfect line you can imagine taking down Mt McKay or Mt Bogong, and spot your favourite watering hole for aprés ski later that evening.

Feathertop Lodge is a top spot for aprés by the fire and dinner, with a remarkable Argentinian chef this season, their delicious à la carte menu will keep you more than satisfied.

If you're looking for fine dining, then Summit Ridge Restaurant cannot be surpassed.

Their five or eight course degustation menu are not to be missed.

Falls Creek has something to delight everyone and is ready with gluhwein and roasted marshmallows to welcome you to the resort this season.
