Magic continues at Falls

FOR a number of years, it is exciting if we are able to ski most of the southern–facing slopes at Falls Creek by June 25.

This year we are off to one of the best starts I have seen in 22 years with most of the terrain open by Queen's Birthday weekend.

The forecast was looking promising in the lead–up to the beginning of June, but that we were actually able to ride the lifts seven days before they were officially due to start turning was phenomenal.

It is a credit to Falls Creek Ski Lifts, Falls Creek Resort Management and a number of operators who were able to pull things together within a few days to say that: Falls Creek is Open for Winter 2022.

The amount of snow that fell prior, as well as the perfect sunny days of Queen's Birthday weekend, meant that visitation to Falls Creek blew most records out of the water.

The atmosphere around the resort was fantastic.

The fireworks on the Saturday night really felt like a celebration of truly being back in business.

To be this busy, to have so much skiable terrain open already, and to be able to see so many happy faces – was the perfect reminder of what snow lovers and snow businesses are here for.

It blew all the cobwebs away from the past two years and that period is a distant memory already.

Statistics continue to be high for the rest of the season.

It is a rarity to find a vacant bed, let alone an apartment for the keen visitor and we have been sadly turning away eager customers for weeks for school holidays.

Snowsports School is also reporting capacity with most lessons booked out well in advance for peak periods.

With the expected demand in the coming weeks, we are urging our customers to book and plan ahead wherever possible.

Guests can now purchase lift passes online and collect lift passes from QR Scanners similar to those in the airport to print out a pass within eight seconds – saves a lot of time in the queue.

Anything that reduces the waiting is a bonus: book your rental equipment online, purchase your resort entry pass (and don't forget to print it and place it on your dash!), reserve your table at the restaurants, and use those QR codes for buying your drinks and food at many of the fabulous dining establishments around the resort.

The weekends are going to be busy, so be prepared for a slow trip up the mountain.

Blessed are those who are coming midweek as they are likely to experience less congestion on arrival.

Patience and planning have their virtues.

It means you will be able to remain safe, relaxed, and enjoy some fantastic snow.
