It’s snow joke – winter is here!

IT'S time to detangle those snow chains you've had sitting in the garage for the past nine months and find your ski wax because the 2023 snow season has arrived.

Whether you are an experienced skier, snowboarder or tobogganist, there are plenty of slopes for you to choose from this winter.

Mt Buller, Mt Stirling, Falls Creek, Dinner Plain, Mt Buffalo or Mt Hotham – the choice is yours for day trips, weekend visits or longer stays.

The joy of getting back out onto the powder is exquisite and visitors will find plenty of accommodation options, restaurants and cafés to wind down in after a big day.

Snowshoeing, tours and events are available, so it's worth exploring your preferred mountain's website to see what's coming up when you book your tickets.

Each website also gives you current snow and weather conditions so you can plan a last minute getaway.

The lifts will start turning (subject to favourable conditions of course) on June 2 at Mt Buller while Falls Creek, Mt Baw Baw, Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain will follow suit on June 10.

With so many of the mountains opening on June 10, you will be able to celebrate the King's Birthday Long Weekend with some white powder of the skiing kind.
