New images captured for your viewing pleasure

MIEKE and Matt from Alpine Light Gallery in Bright have just returned from North Queensland's iconic Daintree area where they have captured the oldest forest on earth (140 million years old) in stunning photography.

They captured the Jinda Wallaman Falls, which is Australia's tallest waterfall, and by traveling during the wet season, the forests and waterfalls were at their most wild and paid off in the images they took.

"It did mean that we were completely drenched by rain and swarmed by insects most days however," Matt said.

The pair are looking forward to integrating some of the scenes into their catalogue of works over the coming months.

Also in the planning is a photographic art book featuring the Ikara–Flinders Ranges and Vulkathunha–Gammon Ranges in South Australia in collaboration with photographic artists Ricardo Da Cunha and Chris Saunders.

2022 was a huge year of international award wins for Mieke and Matt and their photos are representing Australia in the 10th World Photographic Cup with Mieke representing Australia in Nature/Landscape and Matt in Reportage/Photojournalism.

Both of their photographs were recently announced as being in the top 10 in the world, with final places announced in Singapore on March 18.

Alpine Light Gallery is again looking forward to being a part of the Bright Autumn Festival on April 28–May 7.

A range of fine art prints showcasing Bright and surrounds in beautiful foggy and autumnal scenes will be on display, as well as a selection of Australian and international scenes that capture the feeling of autumn.

Mieke and Matt understand that purchasing art is a big decision and want visitors to feel welcome and comfortable even if they don't feel they are in a position to take something home with them.

The images on the walls are regularly refreshed, offering new works to discover so make Alpine Light Gallery your first stop in Bright this autumn.
